Lori's approach is to create counseling goals that reflect an individual or family's unique needs. Lori
will provide the child, adolescent and their family with the support necessary to allow for positive
change to occur in their lives. Lori will do this by utilizing existing strengths and giving clients new
tools and techniques for coping and reaching their goals. Her approach tends to be
Cognitive-Behavioral in theory, thus helping clients recognize the connnection between thoughts,
feelings and actions. She will provide her clients with alternate possibilities while respecting their
viewpoints. Lori enjoys feedback from clients during the therapeutic process in order to best fit their
needs. Lori has learned that it can be extremely effective to collaborate with physicians, various
treatment providers and school staff as a way to provide comprehensive care to her clients. Lori will
tailor her counseling approach for each client, recognizing that at times, it may be more effective to
involve family members in the process. She will utilize sandtray and play therapy techniques to reach
youth at their developmental level and allow them to process feelings and thoughts in a manner that
they can tolerate. Lori is skilled at working with the adolescent population and it is a true passion for
her to watch them flourish as they build on their strengths in counseling sessions. During this phase
of development the major task is to become independent while maintaining connection with the
family unit. Lori enjoys helping teens and parents negotiate their changing roles at this time in life.
