Youth Counseling

The Benefits Counseling Has on Personal Relationships

It’s no secret that relationships require active participation from both sides in order for the relationship to work. But what happens when there is something preventing you from working on yourself? Are you then able to effectively invest in others? What happens when you are constantly seeking advice from your friends and family, instead of just existing in their company? Are they able to then effectively invest in you? What if you are dissatisfied with your friend circle, and you want to start investing in new friendships, but the task seems too daunting to take on yourself?

Why Youth Counseling Is A Lifesaver

Adolescent years are always challenging for teens and their parents; and as time passes by, the traits of the youth’s generation change.  The youth of today belongs to what is called Generation Z.  A website called generation.com.au describes the youth of today as a generation that is social and global, visual and technological. They are connected to the virtual world, the most educated and sophisticated generation ever.

With technological advances in the new generation, the influence this brings about can be positive or negative. Adolescent years are the years of uncertainty and experimenting, sometimes as a result of peer pressure, and when negative peer pressure kicks in, it subjects the adolescent to venturing into such negative habits as alcoholism, drug abuse, and the adolescent will find himself needing help with addiction. However, “The sensation of pressure doesn’t have to be negative—it can be a positive challenge and motivating.” Alicia H. Clark, Psy.D. says.

Teens and Self Esteem

Teens and Self Esteem

Does self-esteem really matter? If you have low self-esteem, is that bad? Does that make you become a worse person? Are you going to do something crazy just because you have a low opinion of yourself? To be honest, self-esteem can hit rock bottom and can put someone in jeopardy. The reason why is simply because if someone has a low opinion of themselves, then they can feel as though they are not worthy and can fall into depression. As most will know, depression can lead to many things and for that reason, self-esteem matters. What’s more, teenagers often seem to have low self-esteem.

Why Do Teens Have Such A Low Self Esteem?

Teenagers have enormous pressure put upon them in today’s society. There is pressure on teens to look their very best and sometimes that means having the perfect body. For thousands, they do not have the perfect body and that affects their self-esteem. It can impact them on a massive scale and it’s not just the perfect body that affects their self-esteem. Teens can be affected in a variety of ways and it can all damage their self-esteem.

“A good way to keep from destroying your self-esteem is by keeping negative self-talk in check. Catch yourself before you go spiraling down the hole of negative thought.” You’ll notice a big difference,”-Cindy T. Graham, PhD.

Quality Care For Teens

Quality Care For Teens

Does your teenager need care when you are not there? For most people, they would say a teen doesn’t need much care or attention when their parents are out-of-town and yet it’s crazy! Teenagers need just as much care as younger children simply because they don’t always make the right decisions. However, when it comes to quality care for teens, what options do you have? Should you have someone watching over your children when you are away?

A Teen Needs Monitoring

In all honesty, a teenager requires a lot of watching simply because they can’t always make the best judgment. Teens think it’s fine to throw a massive party in an empty home but it really isn’t, especially when you see the array of rubbish left behind. Every teen needs monitoring of some sort when it comes to being at home alone. Yes, it’s hard to watch a child every minute of the day but if you are going away, your child should have someone at home to watch over them.
